The head, in relation to the human body, is the supreme governor of the seven meridians and eight collaterals. It is a microcosm of the body, representing holographic acupoints for various internal organs. All the yang meridians of the body converge in the head.

Chinese medicine holds that “the blood of the internal organs and the qi of the abdominal organs all ascend to the head.”

Exploration – Harvesting – Drying – Selection – Brewing – Soup Formation

Head Dao Tang has organized more than 130 Miao herb harvesters stationed at the foot of the Leigong Mountain.

They regularly collect wild Miao herbs for the products of Head Dao Tang. The freshly harvested Miao herbs undergo a series of processes, including further screening and dust removal, to ensure that the medicinal efficacy is maximized. The selected herbs are then precisely blended, packaged, and ready for brewing. Each soup is tailored to specific groups, and their medicinal effects vary.

The selected herbs are then precisely blended, packaged, and ready for brewing. Each soup is tailored to specific groups, and their medicinal effects vary.

The dozens of Miao herbs used by Head Dao Tang come from Miao herb planting bases in remote mountains in China, such as Guizhou and Yunnan.
Every year, researchers from the Miao Herb Research Institute venture deep into the mountains to explore ideal geological environments suitable for the growth of various Miao herbs.

“Green hills and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver.” Head Dao Tang shoulders the responsibility of ecological environment protection. Each Miao herb is planted in conditions that adhere to ecological balance, following the natural growth patterns of plants. White fresh skin is harvested in three years, and Dangshen (Codonopsis pilosula) is harvested in five years. This ensures the vitality and natural properties of each Miao herb. Head Dao Tang follows the natural timing, picking each Miao herb at its moment of natural maturity. For example, Foti is harvested in August, Sanqi in October, Lily on sunny days, and Codonopsis pilosula at 5 a.m. on cloudy days. This adheres to the natural principles of harvesting for each Miao herb, aligning with the way of health preservation.

Miao herb masters choose clear and windy days before sunrise to spread the herbs thinly on reed mats, allowing the energy of sunlight to saturate each Miao herb. The herbs are turned three to five times during the process to ensure even exposure to sunlight. At dusk, the herbs are rolled up and covered to prevent moisture. Head Dao Tang’s Miao herbs typically undergo sun-drying and wind-drying twice to obtain high-quality soup materials. After sun-drying, the herb masters perform an initial screening to remove floating herbs and impurities. They then conduct further sorting, selecting herbs that are not infested with insects, free from decay, and dust-free. Finally, healthy and intact Miao herbs are categorized and stored, awaiting transportation and grinding.

The ground Miao herbs are kneaded until the soup packet becomes thin and soft. Each type of herb is soaked in the corresponding small molecule water according to standards. After boiling over high heat, it is adjusted to low heat for a 90-minute simmer. After the final product is brewed, it is kept warm. In summer, it is maintained at 75 degrees, and in winter, it is kept at 85 degrees.
Natural soup pools, a gift from heaven, inherit the ancient hair-washing basin, containing the secret of health.
